Cole Calvin

Seed cache, Burnished earthenware, saggar fired, 2.5 × 2.5–7.7 × 4 in.

Through my work, I bridge the gap between past and present, crafting narratives that blend personal memory with cultural histories. These works are an exploration of both Black and Queer identities and the shared viewpoints of "the other." This perspective drives much of my practice. I engage with histories, folklore, and lived experiences. The artwork I create often takes the form of personal objects meant to be held or used as adornment but has also expanded to taking up space as wall hangings, altering the way we perceive space. These objects and their haptic nature include the viewer in the experience of ephemeral ideas of the others.
