My practice explores the interactions between the subconscious and the phenomenology of images created through processes of accumulation. As I work, I collect smaller moments of material or imagery that interact and overlap. It is the sum of those interactions that leads the direction of the painting rather than a central concept or design.

I am interested in how this process can be used to navigate complex feelings of affection, attachment, and aversion, and how an emergent symbolic language can be discovered and rediscovered through the meditation of painting. Most paintings start without a concrete idea, and pass through several images and orientations before arriving at a final arrangement. As the language of the paintings evolves, I hope to build a cartography of the subconscious and spiritual world that creates desire and fear.
