My work interrogates American popular culture production. Drawing from YouTube videos, technological waste and fibers art techniques, I chop up and slice together found materials with repetitive interventions. Often, these works reference seemingly discordant trends edited and sewn together to engage with how gender and the para-social relations become real through reproduction. Each work acts as a vignette meant to complicate and critique these popular narratives.
JohnClaud Ruder
JohnClaud Ruder is a Philadelphia-based artist primarily working between video collage and sculpture. Ruder received their BA in Art and Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Chicago and are currently pursuing their MFA at Tyler School of Art and Architecture.
