Robyn Walter

My work in drawing and mixed media is mainly influenced by a personal experience of self-doubt and isolation that lead me to my current field of study: art therapy. Art Therapy offers me the ability to provide others with tools of support and healing and a space to create art without judgement. My drawing techniques are reflective of my own personal growth and transformation; adding color and creating quick, light lines that show an evolution in my own ability to trust myself again. The core values I aim to incorporate into my practice are empathy, growth, self-respect, optimism, self-awareness, and love. Some of my influences include video games and a formative experience watching Studio Ghibili’s Ponyo on the big screen for the first time.

Robyn Walter was born and lives and works in Elkins Park, PA and is currently pursuing a degree in Art Therapy at Tyler School of Art & Architecture of Temple University in Philadelphia. She is an artist specializing in graphite drawings inspired by her navigation through the world as a young adult clinically diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (Type I Autism) at a young age. Topics explored by her art include body image, romance, mental health, and self-growth. Her passion for self-expression through art and helping others navigate the world has led her to excel in her academics for the past decade. Leading her to find the ability to enjoy the world of being a young, studious artist.
