Samantha Louie

I see art as a tool to build community. Starting as an art therapy major, I found interest in working in an art education. I find that art brings people closer together and serves as a coping tool for stress and anxiety.

In high school I felt that the “art room” was a place where I could creatively blossom, while seeing my peers grow alongside me. As an intern in an art classroom, I see the space as a safe space and an area to explore creativity with support of teachers and peers. I also find it is a comfortable environment for speaking one's mind on social issues. I desire to one day become an art teacher who holds this safe space for students who need a coping tool as well as young aspiring artists who want to foster their creativity.

My name is Samantha Louie, I am graduating in May 2026 with a BA in Art Therapy. I attended Arcadia university for one year before transferring to Temple University. I enjoy the variety of mediums I got to learn while attending Tyler School of Art, but enjoyed ceramic, etching relief printmaking and illustration with (charcoal, pencil, and ink) the most. I desire to use my skill sets in an education setting as an art teacher. I would like to be able to provide these resources to those who may not be able to afford it outside of school.
