Kennedy J. McGilberry

I've made art most of my life, like most children, I would scribble and doodle. I would create drawings of my family, friends, or representations of how I perceive my life. Exploring new media and abstract methods of creation strengthened my connection with art-making, and it became more important in my everyday life. It has helped me recognize and be able to sit with emotions that I may not yet have the words for. I have found a true passion in sharing how art-making has positively impacted my own mental health. Art making has been a safe space for me since childhood, and it inspires me to share the benefits of art with others. In the future, I hope to continue to share my love of art through teaching or therapeutic arts. Knowing the impact it had on me as an adolescent, I hope to provide youth with a wide range of media and outlets in which they feel safe to create, grow, and ultimately thrive.
