Alyssa Dominguez

I create vibrant and paintings and embroidered works that explore the space between inner identity and outward expression. My practice has recently expanded into be shouldn’t bead based embroidery, where I construct, highly stylized insects, bring texture and dimension to my interest in the natural world. Across both mediums, I returned to plants animals and bold saturated color as a visual language of emotion and self revelation. My art serves as a bridge between how I feel internally and how I move through the world, allowing me to express parts of myself that are otherwise unseen. I aim to evoke a sense of whimsy and curiosity, inviting viewers into a brighter, more playful emotional space.

Alyssa (she/her) is a painter and emerging embroidery artist whose work draws from the natural world, including plants, animals, and ornamental insect forms. Her inspiration draws directly from her personal life as she works with animals in her everyday life and has several house plants at home to use as muses. Growing up, she often found herself outside and exploring the natural world. Influenced by her great-great grandfather‘s use of vivid color, she carries forward a personal legacy while reinterpreting it through my own subject forms.
